No. We handle the infrastructure. You just need to follow the setup guide to connect AskMunin to your Slack workspace — no technical expertise required, just access to create a bot user in your workspace. Takes 10 minutes.

AskMunin logs events, never content. Every time someone adds, edits, deletes, exports, or queries the knowledge base, it's logged with a timestamp and event type. You can view the log yourself with !kb audit (shows the last 30 days by default, or type e.g. !kb audit 90 for 90 days). What's never logged is the content of messages, questions, answers, or the knowledge base itself — nor API keys or other secrets.

Messages are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate responses, and to Groq Whisper for voice transcription. We never log message content — only anonymised statistical events (number of questions, error types, etc.). Nothing is used to train AI models, and voice note audio is deleted immediately after transcription.

The knowledge base is AES-256 encrypted, and we hold the key — so in theory: yes. In practice: no. It's a contractual commitment in the data processing agreement, every knowledge-base event is logged (check it yourself with !kb audit), and our business model is a flat subscription fee. Your data is a liability we protect, not an asset we exploit.

Very nearly, yes. We require an email address at signup, but it doesn't have to contain your name — use an alias address. Name your Slack workspace whatever you like, and pay with Bitcoin (no KYC on our side), and there is no verified identity for you in our systems. If you pay with Vipps (coming soon), you're identified — that's how Vipps works. Anonymity is a choice you can make, not a requirement.

Garbage in, garbage out. SharePoint is full of outdated procedures and files nobody remembers creating. AskMunin learns from what you actively choose to share — that's why the answers are good. Integrations with external services are on the roadmap, but we recommend starting with what you actually use regardless.

Yes. All plans include 14 days free. No payment is taken before the trial period is over, and you can cancel before then at no cost.

AskMunin sends a weekly backup as a file directly to admin users in Slack. The file is decrypted, so you can open and read it straight away — save it wherever you like. You can also take a manual export at any time with !kb export. The data is yours, and you always have a local copy.

You can cancel anytime — just let us know and we'll stop the monthly payment links. No commitment. Your data is not deleted by us. Export the knowledge base with !kb export if you want to take it with you — or use the weekly backup you've already saved.

Yes, until someone updates the knowledge base. It's exactly like with a new colleague — if you don't tell Lars the process changed, he'll keep doing it the old way. AskMunin is no different, but easier to update: send a document, type !remember in Slack, or say it out loud and press 🧠. 30 seconds. Many teams find that AskMunin pushes them to document changes they'd never have written down otherwise.

Type !kb list in Slack to see all stored topics. You can also download the full knowledge base as a text file with !kb export — you own the data and can take it with you at any time.

Use !kb edit to edit the last entry, or upload a new document with the correct information — AskMunin prioritises newer knowledge. AskMunin goes through the knowledge base once a week and notifies you if it finds information that contradicts itself.
